The Child is not talking

The child is not talking and not listening, what to do? The recommendations on this account much, but sometimes they don’t solve the problem. Perhaps a new perspective on her decision to reveal the results of the study of foreign scientists.

Research group of McGill University found that six kids, it seems much more interesting to listen to other children than adults. Researchers believe that drawing attention to sounds at the expense of children’s speech bears to a message to their teaching speech and to ensure that the child began to talk.

The researchers concluded that everyone likes to look at young children. But who wants to listen to them? And, that experiments have shown that they are willing to listen to other children. The research results are an important finding because researchers believe that attraction to the sounds of children’s speech can help to initiate and support key processes involved in learning for the child spoke. This discovery can potentially offer new approaches to help children with problems such as hearing disorders that hinder the development of their language skills, and probably in cases where the child does not say.

As researched kids ‘ attention to the sounds

The researchers found preferences from infants to the sounds by running a series of experiments, which demonstrated repeated vowel sound that imitated the mouth or female adult or another child. The sounds were created using a special synth. Measuring how long each sound was to have the attention of toddlers, the researchers found that babies had a clear preference for sounds that imitated the children. On average, babies listening to vowel sounds from children were almost forty percent longer than the same vowels from adult women. And these sounds were new and not so familiar that their child could confidently remember.

The child’s attention to sounds parents

Some children showed interest in other ways. They listened to vowel sounds from their parents with a pretty neutral, passive persons. But when they heard the same sounds from the children and from their parents, their faces began to show a smile. They seemed to recognize that it was a sound they could try to do themselves, although they probably never heard anything like this before.

Educators already know this on an intuitive level. «Perhaps when we use the children’s high level tone of voice to speak with our babies, we actually empower them to perceive their own voices», — provides a University Professor and study leader Linda Polka.

Being a child of his own voice

«As adults, we use language as a means of communication. But when a small child begins to pronounce the speech sounds, it often has more to do with cognition than with communication … in fact, children usually make sounds of speech when they are alone, without any interaction or eye contact with other», — said the Professor. «to learn and understand how you are able to speak with the children, you need to spend a lot of time to study the movements of the mouth and vocal cords. But they have, literally, «find your own voice».

This study, published in the journal «Science», brings researchers closer to understanding the complex interactions between perception and language production in children of early age.

And we probably can do more and its findings that those parents who send their children to preschool institutions, and also allow and encourage contacts and games their children with other children, older children. This will lead to better development of the child, as the communication, speech help his steady improvement.
