Some children showed interest in other ways. They listened to vowel sounds from their parents with a pretty neutral, passive persons. But when they heard the same sounds from the children and from their parents, their faces began to show a smile. They seemed to recognize that it was a sound they could try to do themselves, although they probably never heard anything like this before.
Educators already know this on an intuitive level. «Perhaps when we use the children’s high level tone of voice to speak with our babies, we actually empower them to perceive their own voices», — provides a University Professor and study leader Linda Polka.
Being a child of his own voice
«As adults, we use language as a means of communication. But when a small child begins to pronounce the speech sounds, it often has more to do with cognition than with communication … in fact, children usually make sounds of speech when they are alone, without any interaction or eye contact with other», — said the Professor. «to learn and understand how you are able to speak with the children, you need to spend a lot of time to study the movements of the mouth and vocal cords. This study, published in the journal «Science», brings researchers closer to understanding the complex interactions between perception and language production in children of early age.
